Shadin Avionics announces TSO certification for the first of its AIS-460 (Avionics Interface System) line of 1553 to ARINC 429 data conversion units.
Under contract with Support Systems Associates Inc. (SSAI), Shadin modified the AIS-460 to integrate the APX-119 transponder on select C-130 aircraft for the purpose of achieving Mode Select (Mode S) Enhanced Surveillance (EHS) capability. Shadin also provides a modified version of its AMS-2500 Altitude Management System to accomplish Pilot Selected Altitude functions for the program.
“The SSAI APX-119 integration program exemplifies the value of Shadin’s AIS product platform,” commented Dan Nelson, CEO of Shadin Avionics. “Shadin can offer a Happy Box data conversion unit in a fraction of the cost and time as compared to typical development programs.”
The AIS-460 1553/Digital conversion platform joins the previously released and certified AIS-360 Digital conversion platform, the AIS-450 Digital/Synchro conversion platform and the soon to be released AIS-380 Analog/Digital conversion platform to form the basis of Shadin’s Avionic Interface System product family.
